CAN I SCHEDULE A TOUR?You are welcomed to stop by and take a quick tour of our facility until we fully open. Tours can also be arranged by appointments.
-
WHAT DOES A DOG EVALUATION INVOLVE?It's a brief "meet and greet" session during which your dog will be introduced to a few other dogs first, ensuring maximum safety, before joining the pack. Once the introduction is complete, a Giving Tree Pet Resort attendant will contact you to provide feedback on the experience. In case your pet shows severe discomfort and anxiety, we will notify you and you will be required to pick him/her up. Upon pickup, we will discuss the results and next steps. Evaluation appointments are available Monday through Friday, 10am - 3pm, at no cost. YOU MUST SCHEDULE IN ADVANCE AND BRING VACCINATION DOCUMENTS. Please set aside 15 minutes for registration.
-
HOW DO I BOOK A RESERVATION?Click the "Book Now" icon on our website to create a profile for you and your pet(s). Certain requirements must be met before booking daycare or boarding. All pets must be at least four months old, neutered or spayed by eight months, and have up-to-date vaccines. For dogs, we require a negative Fecal/Giardia test, Bordetella, Distemper/Parvo, and Rabies vaccinations. Dogs under two years need Fecal/Giardia tests and Bordetella vaccines every six months, while dogs over two need them annually. For cat boarding, FVRCP and Rabies vaccinations are required. Dogs must complete an evaluation before boarding or daycare, which must be scheduled in advance.
-
DO I NEED TO RESERVE DAYCARE AND BOARDING SPOTS?Yes, reservations are highly recommended for daycare and boarding. Drop-in daycare is available for existing clients, but pets must be pre-registered and have verified vaccinations. Dogs must also complete a temperament evaluation, which requires an appointment and a 1-2 hour commitment. We advise calling ahead as daycare and boarding slots fill up fast. For regular daycare clients, we suggest making standing reservations. Boarding reservations always require a non-refundable deposit. All pets must be dropped off before 3pm for daycare or boarding.
-

Provide pill pockets or a similar product to make it more appealing, along with any treats or food that may help. Medications will be given in the pet's suite. If you don't provide anything to administer the medication, you can purchase peanut butter or wet food from us. We charge $2 per dose due to the time it takes to give some pets their medication. Ensure that all medication comes in a plastic container, as we are not responsible for breakage of glass containers.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT TO STAY AT GIVING TREE PET RESORT?Our minimum age requirement is 6 months.
-
WHAT ARE KENNEL COUGH AND CANINE INFLUENZA?Both are contagious upper respiratory infections in dogs. Canine influenza is caused by a specific virus, while kennel cough refers to multiple viruses or bacterial infections. Both can be prevalent in places where dogs gather, such as dog parks, daycares, kennels, and vet offices. They spread similarly to human cold or flu, and dogs can be contagious even without showing signs of illness. If your pet shows symptoms of these diseases, please do not bring them for daycare or boarding.
-
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENTS OF KENNEL COUGH AND CANINE INFLUENZA?Symptoms include a dry or wet cough, nasal discharge, listlessness, and sometimes fever. Treatment for these viral infections may involve letting the virus run its course or prescribing antibiotics if a bacterial infection is suspected. Additional treatments like cough tabs, nebulizer treatments, and fluids may be given depending on the symptoms. If your pet shows symptoms of these diseases, please do not bring them for daycare or boarding.
-
HOW IS KENNEL COUGH AND CANINE INFLUENZA SPREAD?Kennel cough spreads through direct or indirect contact with an infected dog, such as briefly touching noses, collars, leashes, or water bowls.
-
ARE THERE VACCINATIONS FOR KENNEL COUGH AND CANINE INFLUENZA, AND WILL THEY PREVENT MY DOG FROM GETTING SICK?Two separate vaccinations may lessen the severity and duration of symptoms but won't completely prevent your dog from getting sick. It is advised to administer the Canine Influenza vaccine in two separate doses, two weeks apart (a booster is needed two weeks after the first vaccination), followed by annual vaccinations. The Kennel Cough vaccination is given every 6 months to a year, depending on your dog's age. Like the human flu shot, you can still contract the virus or symptoms even if you have been vaccinated.
-
WHAT IS YOUR POLICY FOR PETS THAT HAVEN'T BEEN NEUTERED OR SPAYED?Intact females over 6 months are not accepted for daycare or boarding, except for grooming. Intact males over 6 months can be boarded or stay in our individual daycare, but not for group play. Grooming is available for both female and male intact dogs of all ages.
-
DO I NEED TO HAVE MY DOG VACCINATED FOR KENNEL COUGH AND CANINE INFLUENZA?Giving Tree Pet Resort requires the Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccination for dogs every six months for dogs under 2 years old, and once a year for dogs over 2 years old. We also highly recommend the canine influenza vaccination. Research shows that the Canine Influenza vaccine can lessen the severity of the disease, even though it does not prevent infection.
-
HOW CAN I HELP PREVENT THE SPREAD OF KENNEL COUGH AND CANINE INFLUENZA?Canine influenza and kennel cough spread similarly to the human flu or cold. Consult your veterinarian and keep your dog's vaccinations up to date. If you believe your dog has been exposed to either illness, keep them away from social situations for at least 10 days. If you suspect your dog may be unwell, avoid social situations since they may be contagious even without visible symptoms. Notify Giving Tree Pet Resort immediately if your dog displays any symptoms or you suspect your dog is sick.
-
WHAT IS KENNEL COUGH AND CANINE INFLUENZA IN SIMPLE TERMS?Think of a daycare center where a child is starting to get sick, coughing and sneezing near your child. The virus or bacteria spreads through the air, and your child inhales it. The spread can be stopped by keeping the sick child away from others or isolating them immediately after noticing their symptoms. The same applies to dogs and kennel cough. Kennel cough is a persistent issue, and the Bordetella vaccine, although helpful, does not prevent all dogs from contracting it. Giving Tree Pet Resort prioritizes cleanliness and hygiene, but dogs may still contract kennel cough at our facility, a veterinarian's office, or any place where dogs gather. No dogs showing signs of illness are allowed in our facilities, but a dog may carry the virus without showing symptoms for 8-10 days. If you suspect your dog has been exposed, avoid contact with other pets until your veterinarian considers it safe.
-
WHEN CAN I BRING MY DOG BACK AFTER MY DOG STOPS SHOWING SYMPTOMS OF KENNEL COUGH?We require all pets to wait 7 days after symptoms stop before coming back to Giving Tree Pet Resort.
-
CAN DOGS FALL ILL LIKE CHILDREN?Dogs can contract illnesses like kennel cough, a widespread ailment among them. The name might suggest it's related to kennels or boarding facilities, but dogs don't need to be in such places to catch it. The highly contagious virus spreads through the air, and dogs can get infected just by being near other infected dogs, even if they don't show symptoms. Dogs become immune to most strains after recovering from the illness, and it usually takes about 2 weeks for the infection to resolve. Vaccines like Bordetella exist, but their effectiveness varies due to the virus's mutations. Regular socialization can help build immunity against such diseases.
-
HOW DOES GIVING TREE PET RESORT PREVENT MY DOG FROM GETTING SICK?Giving Tree Pet Resort is committed to maintaining a healthy environment by requiring vaccinations, following strict cleaning protocols, and isolating infected dogs. We also utilize a pH neutral disinfectant system. However, total prevention of kennel cough or canine influenza is impossible due to their contagious nature hence we implement strict rules on dogs who are allowed to enter our facilities.
-
ARE DOG FIGHTS COMMON?Dog fights are rare in group play settings, thanks to Giving Tree Pet Resort’s temperament evaluations for daycare and boarding dogs, the absence of owners and home territories reducing over-protective behaviors, and the removal of leash aggression by allowing off-leash play. Occasional scuffles might occur, but our staff is trained to intervene and correct such situations.
-
CAN DOGS GET INJURED?Injuries can happen in a dog daycare environment, but Giving Tree Pet Resort takes precautions like separate play areas and strict supervision. That said, pet owners must accept the inherent risks of their dogs attending a daycare.
-
WHAT IF MY DOG DOESN'T GET ALONG WITH OTHER DOGS?Only dog-friendly and human-friendly pets that pass a temperament evaluation are allowed for group play. You may opt for individual care where your dog will stay in a cottage and have 2 walks and 1 one-on-one playtime with our staff.
-
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR CAT BOARDING?Cats must have updated vaccinations and flea control at least 48 hours before arrival.
-
ARE CAT ACCOMMODATIONS SEPARATE FROM DOG AREAS?Cats only encounter dogs in the lobby, and their rooms are separate from dog areas. Cats must be kept in a safe carrier and be held by the owner at all times in the lobby area. During the boarding, they will enjoy private suites and interaction with staff in the play area.
-
IS PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF AVAILABLE FOR CATS?Yes, the pet taxi is available for all pets
-
WHAT ARE THE CANCELLATION POLICIES FOR DAYCARE AND BOARDING?A non-refundable deposit is required for reservations, and cancellations or changes are allowed up to two weeks before the reservation date.

WILL YOU OFFER WEBCAM LIVE FEEDS THROUGHOUT THE DAY?At Giving Tree Pet Resort, we hold the comfort and security of our furry friends as our top priority. In our continuous efforts to provide the best care possible, we have made the decision to refrain from sharing the camera feeds of our playrooms to customers. While we understand that many of you enjoy watching your adorable companions during their playful daycare activities, we made this decision for the following reasons: Safety and privacy of staff: At Giving Tree Pet Resort, as much as we commit to our pets' safety and well being, we take the safety and privacy of our staff seriously. We believe that employees have a right to privacy during their work hours. Although the live camera views will not be available to the public, we assure you that our team of dedicated professionals will closely monitor and supervise all daycare activities. Giving Tree Pet Resort has invested in hiring experienced dog attendants who undergo a rigorous training program. Our dedicated management team will commit to create a workspace where employees will focus solely on their responsibilities which is better achievable without the added pressure of constant observation from the outside nor having to manage live feeds and public access. Misunderstanding of canine languages: Dogs communicate primarily through body language, vocalizations, and behavior. However, interpreting these signals accurately can sometimes be challenging for humans who are unfamiliar with canine behavior. Dogs' behavior can vary depending on the context, environment, and individual dog. People who are unfamiliar with these contextual factors may misread a dog's behavior, leading to misinterpretations or overreactions. We kindly request your understanding with this policy. Rest assured, this is solely driven by our commitment to creating a serene and stress-free environment for your beloved pets. By limiting camera access, we aim to minimize distractions and maintain a calm atmosphere, allowing each dog to fully enjoy their time at our daycare. If you have any concerns or require further information, please don't hesitate to reach out to our friendly staff. We're more than happy to assist you and address any queries you may have.
